“Cooking Up Change: How Food Helped Fuel The Civil Rights Movement” – from NPR

This article may be from a few years ago, but it still fits today.

Unfortunately, Professor Opie’s blog isn’t up anymore. Here’s his personal site, though. Luckily, you can still listen to the¬†Kitchen Sisters.

If you do nothing else today, think about the contributions not only of Dr. King but of other brave men and women like John Lewis, Fannie Lou Hamer, and Dick Gregory, Dorothy Height, Lawrence Guyot, and Bob Moses. Oh, the list goes on, and we still need their inspiration and guidance today.
